My Last Blog

Circa 2009
~sigh~

Come tomorrow…the Kaleidoscope will close.

I remember how I got here. Blogging was new to me. I’d REALLY just become accustomed to the Internet. I had a MySpace account…and as my first taste of social media, it was cool. I met a few people over there that I still hold dearly inside my spirit. One of which, is my sister friend, Laticia…”Tish” to loved ones. She told me about the site Yahoo 360 and begged me to sign up. Reluctantly, I did and fell in love quickly.

Yahoo 360 was the kind of site where you could customize your background, the privacy settings and make it home. The “circle” you created wasn’t the only circle. Your friend’s list literally could go on and on and back to you. A friend on your list would lead to seeing someone on theirs who you didn’t know…but, if you clicked enough…you’d wind up right back to someone who did indeed have you as a friend.

I didn’t know how to truly “blog”. I just wrote poetry and short stories and posted them. I didn’t know there was a name for it. It’s actually one of the FIRST places I ever felt comfortable placing my poetry. Other poets and writers would read and draw me to their pages and eventually, I found myself hooked up with a small conglomerate of writers/poets/artists/musicians/craftsmen.

I met so many cool people, but with that came the drama-filled people as well. It got to the point where I didn’t feel I could blog freely without people assuming that my feelings were about THEM. That’s where my friend Yesha (owner of Fly Chick Media, Sherlock Homegirl and Fly Black Chick Blog) came into play. I’d met her on Yahoo 360…and for a long time she was my partner in crime. She introduced me to TRUE blogging and from there I ended here. Blogger.

For a long time, no one knew of my site EXCEPT Yesha…

I blogged and spoke my feelings…freely. Eventually, somehow…(quite possibly through my ex) I began to show more people this site…and The Kaleidoscope was born. I remember the day I made this page and was typing so fast and obliviously that I misspelled “kaleidoscope” in my URL. (The first “o” ended up an “e”) Once I realized it, I had already connected this URL to every other forum I was on…so, I left it.

I’ve met people through THIS forum. Lala (my Kissy Face). Alovelydai. Katlynne LaSalle…and a SLEW of other bloggers. Celebrity blogs, make up blogs, relationship blogs, life blogs, secret blogs, erotic blogs, poetry blogs, picture blogs…every kind of blog you can imagine, I’ve seen it. I’ve introduced OTHERS to this forum as well…kinda paying it forward to those in need of an outlet. Blogger begets blogger begets blogger…lol

Once here…I branched out and created blogs for my online talk show called “The Kween’s Kouch”. That ended and I changed the URL and made it my poetry blog, “Words On Wings”. I also have an erotica blog (Passion’s Fruit) AND a cooking blog (Kween Can Burn). I suppose I may have a touch of ADD or something, because I can’t focus long…or perhaps it’s the reality of my disorder, Narcolepsy (c) my blog “Sleeping Butterfly” on that disorder.

I’ve particpated in blog challenges. 30 days of just writing. 30 days of truth. 30 days of love…and 30 days of erotica. Over and over…I’ve lost and found my writing mojo here, but this time…it’s just best to end it. At least for now. Maybe in a year or more, I’ll feel like it…but the pressure of KNOWING it’s here and nothing is being done, no progress is being captured in blog form…just feels disappointing.

ONE more time…I wanted to thank you ALL for showing support. For loving me and connecting with me, passing my blog’s link along, commenting, respecting my craft through encouragement and praise. I thank you. I love you. I pray you all continue forward in your own endeavors with passion, urgency and follow through.

Peace…

Love always,

Kween

30~ I Learned Love

Did this love challenge teach you anything? If so/not…what/why?

Of course it did. I learned a lot. About myself…about the fellow challengers.

I learned a lot about the love I THOUGHT I had and the love I didn’t realize I had. I learned how perception is a MUG and how often while IN it…we don’t always see it.

I’ve learned that just when you think you’ve gotten over things, memories of pain can pull you back as if things happened in that second. I also learned that the things I thought I’d never get over have washed away with time, understanding and self-love.

I’ve learned that my girls are SO fuckin’ cool. I have a list of chicks who were SO supportive during this challenge. Throwing up my blog’s URL every chance they got…speaking of me in a beautiful light and MEANING it. We banded together and helped each other through each question. Some of us had a harder journey than the others, but we ALL were in each other’s comment sections applauding, cheering, giving e-hugs and love to support through the epiphanies, the inspirations, the beautiful moments, the relived struggles and the moments that some wanted to throw in the towel.

All I have learned is love and more love. Tolerance. Clarity. Retrospection. Forgiveness. Understanding. Reconciliation. Pleasure. Happiness. Peace…peace and love.

Again, thanks to all those who participated, read and commented.

I love you…

I really do…

GOOOOOOOAL!!

YES!!! The 31st day of October means the LAST day of the National Blog Post Month Challenge. My baby girl, Lala or Kissyface, as I call her…asked me via Twitter to participate and I dragged in a few pals so I wouldn’t suffer alone. LMAO. I Kid…I kid. I am thankful for those who came along and put on their blogging drawlz. You all did your thing. I have to say…this was a VERY important month and Lala is like some kinda on-purpose-by-accident GENIUS. This month, two very important platforms were championed. Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness month came and is now gone, but the disease and the dilemmas of violence remain. There has been some really good stories concerning both on the blogs of those who came along on this ride with me. Please go take a peek at the list of lovelies who participated.

I will now say THANK YOU, ladies and gents for participating. I love you all. You made me proud. There were some days that NONE of us wanted to blog, but we pulled together and did it. What’s the purpose you say? We’ve shared our stories/testimonies, we’ve learned SO much about each other, we’ve gained connections (I see you guys out there following each other and holding each other down in the comments!), we’ve grown literally, LITERALLY…and we’ve expressed ourselves in a forum where we’ve been supported and applauded.

MY JOY!! You did it!! I remember last year…you tried, but you didn’t get through it due to some unforeseen things going on. THIS year…in SPITE of what came at you, you caught bullets in your teeth and became this wonder-blogger that I’m SO proud of. Sis, I love you. Thanks for coming along.

DEE aka Afrodeezha! WOW. Your last blog had me in tears, and I shed a little as I write this. Your stories were motivational, real, well-rounded and inspiring. I learned more about you and cherish you dearly (as if I could love you more). Thank you for coming along…and dragging…

THUGROCKSTAR!!! You ROCK babe! You put it down over there. You’re FUNNY, witty, intelligent and damned consistent. You’re definitely a blog worth following and reading. I dig you man…I dig you…you buttery mothafucka! LMAO (I kid…please don’t beat me up. *mind wandering* okay…shaking off that vision) HAHA!!

GOD’ESS! ~ Woman…you were more prompt than  ME most days. LOL I wish I’d gotten the chance to read your blogs on 360, but we weren’t connected then. NOW that we are…I can honestly say this (and I’m not being biased). What YOU thought was short, considered “cheating” and may have thought you didn’t put your all in…beats out a LOT of folks’ blogs who do “put their all in” to their blogs and fail MISERABLY! Your posts were thoughtful, thought provoking, intimate and straight to the point. That is needed…especially in the day of the short attention span. I’m glad you are now blogging…I’m sure after a short siesta you’ll return…right? O_O lol…THANK you and LOVE you!

MY SUNDAE! You tried. LOL. It’s not easy, but you tried. I love that you did. I know you’re a woman about the world…superwoman with the prettiest locs flying in the wind, free-spirited aloft the city…so yea. LOL LOVE YOU STILL. (she still has some read-worthy blogs…go getchusum). Thanks, sis!

Last, but not la-la-least…Lala. Kissyface. Artsyface. The girl with the rocker look and the sweet girl voice. THANK YOU! Thanks for bringing me along and for inspiring this year AND last year’s challenge. You’ve helped me to cultivate my blogger skills by being able to write impromptu and without thinking twice. I’m soooo in my head when thinking up blog topics, but this challenge has helped me just remove the filter and say what I need to say. Thanks again, babe. Love you much! (Um, can you inform me the next time you pack your blog bags and move? Please and thanks in advance)

~phew~ I’m done, y’all…see you in a few days…or weeks. lol

*doing my end zone dance* GOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!!!!!!
